Calumet Bourbon
2024
We’ve taken more than our fair share of product shots. From pre-made burritos to gaming consoles, every shoot has its own challenges and opportunities.
Sometimes, we’ve barely used the products we photograph, and sometimes, we’re well-versed in the product at hand. In the case of our latest shoot, we’re not just brand advocates; we’re die-hard fans.
Calumet Bourbon is simply one of the best bourbons on the planet if you ask us.
Rich in history (and taste)
Calumet Bourbon pays homage to the rich history of Calumet Farm, a legendary Thoroughbred racing and breeding operation in Lexington, Kentucky. The farm, founded in 1924 by William Monroe Wright, owner of the Calumet Baking Powder Company, quickly rose to prominence in the horse racing world.
Under the guidance of Wright's son, Warren Wright Sr., who transformed the farm into a Thoroughbred operation, Calumet Farm became synonymous with racing excellence, producing numerous Kentucky Derby winners and two Triple Crown champions, Whirlaway in 1941 and Citation in 1948. The connection between Calumet Farm's storied past in horse racing and Calumet Bourbon lies in the spirit of excellence and tradition.
You’ll taste it in every dram.
Attention to detail
Each batch of Calumet is produced with meticulous attention to detail (something we tried to embody while shooting this incredible whiskey). The bourbon is noted for its rich flavor profile and smooth finish, qualities that have made it a favorite among bourbon enthusiasts.
A day at the beach
To showcase this incredible product, we did multiple shoots at multiple locations. One of the stops that ended up surprising us the most was one of the most unexpected: a gloomy day on the beach. The background evokes a sense of introspection and contemplation, similar to the reflective appreciation you’ll experience when savoring a glass of Calumet.
Here’s an overview of how we captured one of our favorite shots, and what goes into editing a post for social media.

The brand
The branding and presentation of Calumet Bourbon, with labels and packaging that nod to the farm's historic achievements, serve as a tribute to the legacy of Calumet Farm and its enduring influence in Kentucky's cultural heritage.
Calumet’s Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, photographed in the video above, has a classic label with callbacks to the farm, racing, and legendary history of the brand. The whiskey itself is a mix of 15 year old and 8 year old bourbon, bottled at 86 proof or 43% alcohol by volume. It’s a great expression of the distillery, showcasing two of their most popular offerings.
Let's tell your story
It's incredible what a good editor can do for your brand on social media. We take the time to do proper color correction, retouching and removing unnecessary subjects, and adding in custom touches to help to tell your story.
These techniques are used to achieve a desired outcome, relying on professional photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and other specialized tools.
